“Be a teacher, be a teacher, or... be a listener, but. Do not be a fourth.” This is Muhammad. The Prophet’s blessed word, “The better the learning, the better the learning that is absorbed” is the elixir of wisdom, in order to consciously understand and experience these words, it is mandatory for a village to have an educational institution. Although establishing an... educational institution... today is a simple matter, 60 years ago during the British... rule... in a Muslim village, that too by a few people interested in education with a small number of people, it was a very difficult task. Everyone with the power of thought. Accepts... For the rise and progress of a village, the school is distinguished among the things that stand out. Therefore. Andro, the school, the school gate, both. Like two eyes... are being protected. About sixty years ago, in 1939, a village came forward to do such a great deed.
When I write down which village that was, a kind of excitement rises in my heart. There are many areas where Muslims live scattered in many parts of Sri Lanka. Especially Kegalle. In the district, there are many areas where Muslims live concentrated and in a caste... What I am going to say here is about Warakapola, the capital of the Bedigama district.
In the year 1820, during the construction of the main road between Colombo and Kandy, the British abandoned the attempt to build the road at the 36th milepost near the present-day Warakapola town, as it was very difficult and costly. However, since there was no other alternative, the decision was made to build the road again and work began. This is called “Warakapola” in Sinhala.
At that time, Warakapola and the surrounding areas of Kanitapura, Horakolla, Thummaladeniya, Ambepussa, and Wevaldeniya were inhabited by Muslim families on the fingers of one hand. Because there were no schools in these areas to teach through the Tamil language, I realized that a few families went to Sinhala schools and learned Kalli. And to some extent, Arabic through Quranic madrasas. They acquired the ability to recite the Quran and the ability to speak Tamil.
During this period, i.e. in the years 1935., an awareness of education arose among the Muslim people living in Sri Lanka. The reason for this was the late Sir Razik Farid, the lifelong leader of the Sonaka Sangam, who is considered the father of the Sri Lankan Sonakas. The Sonaka Sangam, founded by him, was working with a long-term vision by dividing Sonaka Sangams into two or three in every Muslim village... At that time, a school was also built in the village of Warakapolai and after praising Almighty Allah, he worked hard to make it work. Warakapolai was praised as the father of the Muslims. The late Alhaj M. A. M Abul Hasan J.P. was the most respected person. His visionary thinking, guidance and knowledge inspired many people in this area to work with him.
Warakapola.. In 1939, the Warakapola branch of the Sri Lanka Sonagar Sangha started a Tamil-medium school in the place where the Quran Madrasa was operating under the name "Al Madrasa Sadhush Sharifiya" at the junction of Ankuruvalla Road and Masjid Mawatha. At present, the Quran Madrasa is called Al Madrasa Sadhush Sharifiya. Its initial opening was attended by local dignitaries and the general public, including Sir Rasik Farid Alhaj M.A.M Abul Hassan Zip. Mr. Kahadowida Janab Badi was appointed as its first headmaster. The owner of this place, which used to be a school in the morning and a Quran Madrasa in the evening, Sharif Ralahami graciously donated it for the fulfillment of this noble purpose.
From 1939 to 1942. The Sri Lanka Sonagar Sangam Warakapola branch supervised it and provided facilities. In 1942, Mr. Seilaphdin from Kadugasthota was appointed as the teacher. The increasing number of students and the lack of space created another... problem. On this occasion, land was needed to construct a new building. The need was felt by Marhumka A.R.M Junaid Alim Sahib and Marhum Abdul Latheeb Lebbi, who often went to Dale and La. Deniya in a bullock cart and conveyed it to Marhum
Abul Hasa Ha Zayar. As a result, Alhaj M.A.M Abul Hasan donated one acre of land, which he owned, to establish a school at the place where Babul Hasan is now located. The people of this area, with joy, interest, and enthusiasm, embarked on an effort to establish a school. The late Jannat
